DANIEL MORCOS
City Club ‘Lend a hand’
Daniel Morcos directs a film that captures an array of individual City Club athletes, whose experiences have a single common thread.
-
Each moment takes place in a context where they are never alone on their journey.
Beautifully shot in black and white imagery, Daniel’s aim was to create moments that evoked deeper significance for each athlete, simply because their experience takes place within a community dedicated to them.
Featuring excerpts from the anonymous poem “Lend a Hand.”

BEHIND THE WORK
Daniel:
“I love working with athletes. They tend to lack pretence, especially when they’re not used to being in the spotlight; mix in a psyche obsessed with performance excellence it makes the job of directing them really interesting. Just when you think you get a great take it’s not uncommon to hear a ‘I can do much better, let me try again’ from them, often without even reviewing the take.”
“There’s an insistence on pushing themselves, as if there’s some personal record that must be broken. Even when some acting is involved, it seems like they can’t help being competitive. The outcome of this self-pressured motivation from an athlete doesn’t always immediately yield what you’re looking for as a director, but far more often than I expect, incredibly nuanced performances get captured on camera.”
